Porter returns to practice for Saints

It seems like every time a Saints injury report comes out over the past couple of weeks, bad news is in it. Either a starter goes out or the list of banged up Saints grows and grows.  Friday a bit of good news for a chance as cornerback Tracy Porter practiced on a limited basis.

It was the first time Porter has stepped onto a field in four weeks after spraining the MCL in his left knee. Officially the Saints list Porter as doubtful for the game In Atlanta on Sunday, but while he likely won’t play it does bode well for a return in time for the post season.

The fact that receiver Lance Moore practiced all week, albeit on a limited basis, leads one to believe that he is recovering well from ankle and hamstring injuries that have kept him out of six games this season. Moore is officially listed as questionable.

Also listed as questionable is running back Mike Bell. Bell did not practice on Thursday or Friday to what head coach Sean Payton calls “soreness” in his knee resulting from the Redskins game.

RB Pierre Thomas (quad), RB Reggie Bush (knee), RB Lynell Hamilton (shoulder), LT Jermon Bushrod (thumb), G Jahri Evans (toe), C Jonathan Goodwin (ankle), TE Jeremy Shockey (hamstring), TE Darnell Dinkins (foot), DT Sedrick Ellis (knee), DE Bobby McCray (back, knee), LB Jonathan Vilma (knee), C Randall Gay (hamstring), and S Usama Young (hip) are all listed as probable.
